FAQ

1. Why is PSTheory worth discovering?

The Panstructural Theory of Everything (PSTheory) provides new cognitive tools for a structural and holistic perception and naming of the world's phenomena. It makes it possible to map reality at the highest level of abstraction.

2. What conditions does a reader of PSTheory have to meet?

To be able to understand PSTheory, a reader must have well-developed abstract thinking skills, as PSTheory is an abstract theory. The reader must want to discover new tools of both holistic and structural perception and thinking. If the reader does not desire to do so, they will focus on unproductive criticism involving comparisons between PSTheory and content they know from other disciplines of science. PSTheory is incomparable because other theories are specific, anchored at a lower level of abstraction. A reader of PSTheory must abandon the definitions they know and adopt the definitions presented by PSTheory as abiding in the area they are investigating.

3. Is PSTheory complete?

No, PSTheory is a theory in progress. It is a task for many people for many years. One holistic mind had to sketch out the main framework and provide definitions of basic concepts. Finishing PSTheory exceeds the capacity of a single person.

4. What is the place of PSTheory in science?

The description of the world provided by PSTheory and descriptions provided by other scientific disciplines are complementary, are parallel to each other. They each bring new value to human life. PSTheory provides concepts and definitions that are used to structurally and holistically describe reality. What advantages does a structural and holistic description bring to science? One advantage of such a description is providing tools for mapping dependencies between Entities. Another is defining the conditions for the existence of separate Entities. Modern science provides a structural description in some areas and it is only through this that it is possible to build coherent and compatible models from individual subtheories, like from jigsaw pieces. The conceptual coverage of some areas is by indicators of structural concepts. Individual subtheories are only patches that cannot be used to build a coherent collective theory consisting of mutually compatible jigsaw pieces.

The process of PSTheory's development does not fit the canons of modern science, where fragmentary discoveries are made and then proved on an ongoing basis. The fact that PSTheory is outside the conditions imposed by contemporary science is not a reflection of the theory's weakness, but suggests that those conditions should be expanded to include new ones.

PSTheory may set directions for research. A similar role may be played by the author's poetry and Błyski świadomości (Flashes of consciousness) as they are a holistic take on the insights. Some of these insights may already be present in science, some are still missing and worth investigating.

5. Is PSTheory a useful description of reality?

PSTheory is a description of reality at the highest level of abstraction. It is formed by abstracting, i.e. discarding all features of the studied subject apart from those connected to Change. The description of each phenomenon or object may be transferred to a higher level of abstraction, omitting further features. Descriptions at higher levels of abstraction will contain fewer features, but will thus pertain to a greater number of phenomena. The highest level of abstraction will include a minimum number of features, but a description at this level will fit a maximum number of phenomena from a given discipline.

Let us use an example. We have the following levels of abstraction: mongrel, dachshund, dog, mammal, living being, Entity. At each subsequent level of abstraction we omit part of the features. The highest level—Entity—contains only the fragment of description that is related to Change; at the same time, that description is consistent with the largest number of phenomena. Is such a description useful? I believe so, as it fosters looking at reality in the context of Change and from a bird's eye view perspective. PSTheory contains the postulate that it is Change which creates structure.

6. Does PSTheory provide conceptual tools for describing a section of the real world along Change?

PSTheory provides conceptual tools for describing a section of the real world along Change. The concepts of PSTheory set out and define phenomena related to Change. PSTheory calls the model of the section of the world along change a World of Systems. How should the concept of a section be understood? We will use a metaphor to illustrate this concept. The circulatory system contains all the constituents of the body that are related to blood. A general description of the circulatory system provides conceptual tools to describe any living being's circulatory system. Discarding all the elements and features not related to blood from the description of the body will leave us with only the features necessary to prepare a proper description of the circulatory system. In this metaphor the circulatory system is a section of the body along blood. The circulatory system does not exist independently: it is an integral part of the body. A section of the world along Change does not exist independently either, but as a part of the real world.

7. Why does PSTheory define Truth?

PSTheory has defined Truth and definitely separated it from descriptions and Interpretations. The definition of Truth consistent with PSTheory is inconsistent with commonly used definitions, but is the only one that does not contradict other PSTheory definitions and allows some problems of meaning to be solved. According to PSTheory one cannot own Truth and one cannot proclaim it. Only descriptions of Truth, its Interpretations can be proclaimed. Truth is the whole of the real world, everything that exists. No segment of reality is the Truth.

The main error of the colloquial definition of Truth was linking Truth to a given Context. Depending on the Context assumed, the Truth changed. And Truth cannot be relative. Only descriptions and Interpretations can be relative, context-dependent. A definition of Truth consistent with PSTheory restores the fundamental feature of Truth: its absoluteness. Absoluteness understood as the fact of existence of a cause for each interpretational difference. If such a difference occurs and there are two versions of the description of an event or phenomenon, there must be a reason for this. The cause may barely be knowable, but always exists.

8. Is PSTheory a structural theory?

Let us consider: what should characterise a structural theory? It should reflect structure, be composed of compatible blocks that can be used to build a cohesive whole. What are the defects of a non-structural theory? A non-structural theory is built of indicators of elements of structure. It is not possible to form a whole out of separate non-structural theories because they are incompatible. Only a structural theory explains events in an unconditional way. A non-structural theory suggests conjectures, which can be relative. A structural theory indicates phenomena and the changeability of those phenomena. Why do I believe that Change is the key concept of a structural theory? I postulate that Change creates structure. How? Changes in phenomena and reactions of other phenomena to those changes create relationships between phenomena, and these relationships are the basis for superior Entities.

9. Is PSTheory a holistic theory?

A holistic theory must provide conceptual tools allowing a bird's eye view of reality. They indicate both phenomena and relationships between them. A holistic theory may, but does not necessarily have to, help navigate levels of detail. It makes it possible to shut structures that achieve subjectivity in boxes, to allow them to enter higher-level relationships as individual phenomena. PSTheory will meet these conditions.

10. Why can it be postulated that PSTheory is an operationalisation of its author's holistic mind?

PSTheory puts in order the author's knowledge and gives context to her statements. The author has two notebooks containing reflections from the beginning of work on PSTheory, which in retrospect she believes to be worthless. She already caught insights then, but the quality of the first observations from the period before PSTheory's development was poor. Now she can unhesitatingly put her name to every insight recorded in her flashes, poems or comments. These are insights that she experiences by looking at the world from a holistic perspective, from the perspective of PSTheory.

11. Why is PSTheory being developed outside the system?

The chapter below contains the personal conclusions of the author of the Panstructural Theory of Everything.

The Panstructural Theory of Everything is being developed outside the system. PSTheory could not be developed within the procedures, requirements and limitations of the system. I will enumerate some of the reasons below.

I operate outside the system, so I reject recognised research methods, I reject knowledge. I do so to maximally use my cognitive abilities to achieve the greatest possible change for the better. I remember differently: structures and relationships rather than content; conversely, when operating within the system one must bear in mind what others before us have achieved—and thus have a functional memory.

To avoid having to remember what others have concluded—and written—I started my research by looking for answers to the most basic of questions. Questions that have already been answered thousands of times. But I searched for my own answers. Correction: not my own answers—I searched for the answers of my holistic mind.

I have too little energy to function within the system. Currently I work three days a week, an hour a day.

Developing PSTheory requires throwing off the fetters of memory, while research work within the system requires memory, as one has to consider—as mentioned above—the achievements of other scientists.

The system requires publishing of research results on an ongoing basis, requires constant achievement of results. PSTheory is developed step by step in many areas at the same time. In PSTheory, for a very long time we obtain only approximations at the utmost. Results will be obtained in PSTheory at the end of the process. Perhaps it will then be an avalanche of results, the theory will mature for completion, capturing of the final results.

The system requires a creator to comply with its rules. PSTheory is developed by following the mind, it is constant adaptation to a developing mind. My mind developed in complete freedom both as regards processes and as regards concepts and cognitive structures. Sometimes I feel that I am only documenting the effects of my mind's work.

The systems requires articles to be published. I do not read scientific works, I currently read only historical fiction and poetry. Reading tires me too much. Writing an article or book requires many words to be used, but it is my nature to use few words that get to the heart of the matter. Writing publications would thus from my point of view involve adding too many superfluous words to the crux. A task requiring energy, of which I have very little. My works are condensed and will doubtless require a commentary, which will be added by others.

Work in the system would entail confrontation with other scientists, proving the value of prototypical content, fighting and much explanation. I have postponed these activities until my creative powers lessen to the point where explaining to others that the sky is blue will not come at the expense of my creative work. Unfortunately most people who attack me use definitions of concepts taken from various scientific disciplines and prove to me that my concepts are inconsistent with them. They will be. PSTheory contains definitions of all concepts that I refer to. I use intuitive names of concepts—names that function both in colloquial usage and in other sciences—but each concept has a definition in PSTheory.

The system requires that time and energy be spent on obtaining funding. I found it a waste of time, and have too little energy. I believed that using my mind for bureaucratic activities is a waste similar to using a quantum computer-operated digger to dig a garden. Doable but not economical. I changed the order. I decided to first use my time and energy to achieve the most valuable results possible; I left financial gain for later. I wanted to dedicate the maximum of my creative potential to research and getting results.

In the system, scientists are required to multitask. Outside the system I could limit my activity to what I am the best at: discovering and creating. The process of developing a holistic theory is so demanding for the mind that no room is left for anything else.

In the system I would have to defend my imperfect intermediate results from other scientists' attacks. Outside the system I have given myself time to improve them.

I have been accused of rejecting other scientists' work. Why? Not out of megalomania, but from purely practical reasons. I always modified knowledge that I acquired anyway, to be able to memorise it. I find it easier to create something from scratch than to modify somebody else's content.

In the system I would be dependent on others' decisions for a long time yet. But it is I who knows what is the best for my creative process. I had a choice: submit my life to others—those with power—or submit my life to developing PSTheory. I chose the latter.

In the system I would pursue the goals of non-holistic minds, outside the system I pursue the goal of a holistic mind.
